House Cleaning Checklist On A Holiday

Holiday is one of my favorite parts of the year. The party, food, decorations and gift giving are the things that I always look forward in doing. This is also one of the reasons for my family to see each other and have some reunion. Wherein, relatives from other city will travel to my place and stay for the whole holiday.

Having visitors during holiday is stressful because I need to make sure that my house is clean and ready to accommodate my relatives. I need to make sure that everything is clean and in place to make my relatives feel at home.

By doing it in advance, you will be able to have enough time in cleaning the house. It will be more relax and easy to move because you are not in a hurry or in rush. It is better to clean in relax mode because you will not get tired easily and you still have a chance to take some rest before you start buying those things that you need for the party.

In preparing my house to host a holiday party, I personally created a House Cleaning Checklist On A Holiday. It helps me saves more time and energy while cleaning.

Divide the parts of the house

In doing this you will be able to identify what are the things that needs some repair or change. You will be able to check what type of cleaning materials that you need to buy.

In the Kitchen

Check your Cooking Surface

You can do this by yourself or you can hire a professional. Have your stove to be check.  Actually, stoves need some maintenance as well. You need to make sure that gas hose are still fine and no leaks, no clogged in your burners, and check if you already need to replace your gas tank.

Clean the Fridge

If you love keeping leftover food, if you are a vegetable hoarder, now is the time to throw away all the expired stuff to make room for this year’s leftover.

Clean Down Other Kitchen Appliances

Who wants fingerprints on their appliances? Or left over smell from what you cook? No one! Always have a clean cloth ready that you can use to wipe your appliances.

Garbage Disposal

After doing a general cleaning in your house, make sure that you were able to dispose all the garbage and be collected. You don’t want those garbage bag being display in front of your house during holiday.

In the Living Room

Carpet Ready

Check carpet if there are any stains from food or coffee. Carpet is the most absorbent of dust and dirt from your shoes or pets. Send your carpet to the nearest laundry shop for it to be wash properly.

Throw Pillows

Putting some colored pillows with holiday theme is best, to add more holiday ambiance in your living room. Make sure that your pillow doesn’t have that bad smell or any stain.

Sparkling Windows

When I was still a little, I love leaving hand prints in our windows or in our sliding door. I will feel so amazed how that happened. But when I grew up, I now understand that it is not good to see hand prints or any stain in your windows. It is giving an impression that your house is dirty.

Walls

We do know that walls have a big part in our house. And yes, they get dirty too! Without us knowing our kids are wiping their hand on the walls after eating or after playing outside. We cannot avoid that , kids are just kids. The worst case is if they write on your walls using pens or crayons. In that case, you might need to use some chemicals to remove it.

Air Conditioner Check-Up

It is better to check your air conditioner at least two weeks before the holiday. Hire a professional who can conduct an inspection to make sure that it is still working, most especially in changing the thermostat.

In the Bathroom

 Bathroom Flooring

Clean the bathroom at least 2 days before the party. Make sure that there is no soap scum in your flooring and it must have the fresh smell. You can use orange zest or a cup of charcoal and put in the corner of your bathroom or wash room.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Shiny mirror is like an 18 carat diamond shining. Who wants to see toothpaste splatter on their mirror? I love seeing myself in a clean mirror, I feel more beautiful.

Water Heater

Make sure that your water heater is perfectly working. It is hard to take a bath in a cold weather using cold water. Have it checked by a professional to make sure that it is working or need to be replaced.

Remember: Bathroom is the image of your house.

In the Bedrooms

 Bed to Rest

Check your guest room if you already change the beddings and pillow case. Newly change beddings will add a welcoming ambiance to your guest, and they will be able to relax well.

Organize

In your guestroom, make sure that you have toiletries ready, like soap, shampoo, toothpaste and bathroom towels.

Garden / Backyard

The Grass

Give a cut on your over-sized grass. You can hire a cleaner who offer that kind of service. Having short length grass and will add relax ambiance in the area and it will not irritate your guest as well.

 Tables and Chairs

Make sure that you have enough tables and chairs that can accommodate your guest. It is better to sit down while drinking a glass of wine.

Preparing for holiday is really hard because you need to make sure that everything is all set. No one wants to experience any hassle during holiday because this is the best time for you to relax with your family.

You are the setter of the mood in your house. You need to make sure that all is set and light are ready, to add more of a holiday feeling. Sounds on, ready your speakers and music to play while relaxing in your garden or backyard.
